Beravina Achievement

Beravina village belongs to the central highlands of Madagascar, it is located 9 miles from the centre town Antananarivo and about 3 940 ft. in altitude.

Beravina contains eroded hills, alluvial plains that have been converted into irrigated rice fields.

Gatherings of red-clay houses can be noticed in Beravina village. Old Estates and houses are fortified by “Hadivory” (old defence ditches) and “Tamboho” (Malagasy wall made of mud, dry rice, stalks, eggs, gathered from paddies). Those were used to protect the village from enemies during monarchy period (1700s to 1800s). The climate is temperate, hot and rain season from November to April, cooler and dry from May to October.

80% of Beravina villagers live by agriculture.

Rice represents 60% of the cultivated area, other food crops may include cassava, beans, maize, sweet potatoes, and much variety of vegetables.  Animal production is modest, usually pigs, zebus, and poultry.

Beravina population is younger 70% between the age of 15 to 50.

Due to the lack of firm public policy, Education quality is so weak, In general in the remote areas there are high rates of grade repetition and drop out. Public primary schools are crowded with average 50 pupils in one classroom.
