Accommodation :

Malagasy people are very well-known about their hospitality. Our host families are chosen carefully. Host family is a Malagasy family living in area of Madagascar that host travelers. They have been belonging to Aina Madagascar since 2000. We have to consider however that the standard of living in Madagascar is very low comparing to western families. So travelers need to adapt. And we should remember that is one of reason of our travelling experience because we know this is the way to immerse Malagasy culture and surely you do not want to live in a bubble or cocoon while you decide to make that kind of exciting trip.
Nevertheless Aina Madagascar can assure you about the hygiene (always boiled water & foods) and quality home cooked meals made by locals and fresh product.

Food :
Beravina & Ankarefo village, even the humblest families are able to produce an astounding meal from locals and fresh product. Eating well is one of delights in Madagascar, rice is the main food, but meat lovers will enjoy the zebu’s steak. Fresh vegetables, beans, are usually in highlands (the center part of the island). Seafood, shellfish and lobster are predominant on the coast area. A basic Malagasy menu is: inevitable rice comes a bowl of stock along with meat or fish and vegetables or beans.

The bed :
The room is modest but the bed is comfortable, Host families are not professional on accommodation, that’s not the point, they are only Malagasy family who want to have guest and welcome travelers as friends not customers. Sleeping bag and bed should be brought. to make sure to get away from mosquitoes, don’t forget to bring mosquito net in your kits. In addition, you’d better bring your sleeping bag and small pillow, one torch and batteries.

Majority of Malagasy family do not have luxury private bathroom, they can give you pail of water (it could be hot) in an intimate place
The toilet could be a little shack at the back of the yard.
